Beginning to pump at 4-5 months...

I never bought a pump and have EBF LO for the last four months. It's tough but do able. But now I may be in line for a possible part time job. I would need to buy a pump as I expected to be giving LO BM until around 1.

 Does it work to suddenly start pumping at 4-5 months in? How would that work, eaxctly? Any suggestions?

I expect that LO will transition to a bottle pretty easily. This is an educated guess because she has no problem to switching back and forth between a nipple with and without a a nipple shield. As long as mama has milk - she doesn't seem to be picky.
