nipple shield blisters

I have been EBF my daughter since she was born 2.5 weeks ago.  I have to use a nipple shield because I have flat nipples and she is not able to latch without it.  Her lips seem to be blistering from it, even though she has a decent latch with the shield (I've had a couple of nurses look at her latch, and it doesn't hurt my nipples at all) She doesn't seem to be in pain...but I still feel bad about it... Has this happened to anyone else's LO?  What did you do about it?
