what is the shelf life of a pump, typically?

I used my Lansinoh Double Electric pump three years ago with DS, and I was planning on using it again for DD. I have been using it lately, and it sounds sooooo slow almost like the motor is getting tired. How long do pumps usually last? If it was the motor, is this just a part you replace or do I have to suck it up and get a new one?
