Solid foods and crying when pooping

Hi Ladies!  My LO is breastfed and is now 9 months old.  She has recently begun eating enough solid foods that her stools have become more solid.  They are still soft and paste-like in consistency, so I don't believe she's constipated, but she clearly strains while pooping and cries immediately after she poops.  I'm guessing she's crying because the consistency of her new poops simply feels foreign and uncomfortable compared to her old, purely breast milk stools so perhaps she just needs to get used to the new norm?  Do any of you have experience with this?   TIA!
