Finding a Daycare: Advice?

So, I am only 6 weeks along, but my biggest stress so far (other than exhaustion, sore boobs and nausea) is day care.  I have no idea how to find one, and the handful I found have waiting lists of two years or 100s or people.  I'd need something in about a year (given my due date and then maternity leave) so I thought I had enough time but now I'm stuck. I am the first of my friends to have a child in our area and haven't told co-workers yet so we're kind of on our own.

Any tips, advice or words of wisdom on how to find child care?
