1st appointment

I am a first time mom and have my first appt on June 8th so I will be around 8 weeks.  I was just wondering what to expect at the 1st appt.  I know it is with a nurse practitioner so I wasn't sure all it would include.  Trying to figure out if my hubby needs to try to get out of a work commitment to go with me or if it will be more of just paperwork and testing, but not actually listen for the heatbeat, etc...
