False contractions,result of internal exam, or baby hiccups? (1st pregnancy so confused)

Hi lovely mommies-to-be! Hope you all had a fabulous mother's day !

So obviously the subject shows how truly clueless that this first time mom is...lol!

Basically, I had my first internal exam of the 3rd trimester this past Friday. My Doctor said that baby has flipped into position, and I am not dialated yet. I got home and wouldn't you know - I was spotting for the 1st time in my pregnancy. Luckily my friend informed me that this is normal as long as it is a small amount. However last night I had a cramping sensation at bedtime and along with it a "throbbing" sensation every few seconds. I do not know if what I was experiencing was just a combo of baby's hiccups and me still recovering from the cervical / internal exam? Has anyone ever experienced this before, or have any idea what it was?
