Any Canadians who see/have seen an RE?

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what the process is like in Canada with regards to referrals to an RE etc? I went to the hospital last week (unrelated to ttc) and the specialist I see mentioned I should be looking into finding an RE and that if I was her patient she would have referred me by now given my age and coming up on 6 months ttc.

Does OHIP cover anything? Most work insurances? Are there long waiting lists?

I'm going to my family doctor on Tuesday to find out the results of my bloodwork which incidently she did on cd14 and not cd3 (??) and want to know what the process should be. thanks!
