An attic nursery?

FI and I looked at an apartment today. It's in a great local, it has water, sewage, and trash included, cheap rent (for a 2 bd in our area), and we get to bring our pug. Just one (slightly creepy) problem. The 2nd, smaller bedroom, which would be Gabe's room is in the attic. The apartment is the entire second floor of an old house, but Gabe's room would be in the finished, carpeted attic. It's the perfect size for a child. But it has several weird little cubby closets throughout the room, and if you (like me) have seen Paranormal Activity 3, I really got the creepies when I saw them. FI says he sees nothing wrong with Gabe being in the attic, with a babygate. But I feel kind of bad putting him by himself in the attic.
