Vitamin D drops

At my first pedi appt 2 days after coming home from the hospital, doc told me that the only thing babies don't get from breast milk is vitamin D. My DS wasn't gaining as much weight as he should so he scheduled me for a weight check up in a week. He said that he would weight until then to prescribe me the Vitamin D drops because it might interfere with LO's eating. So I had my weight check up today and I saw the PA this time. I told her that the doc said he was going to prescribe me the drops and she said that as long as I am healthy she really doesn't see the need to. The way the doctor made it sound, it seemed like all breastfed babies should be taking the drops. But the PA refused to prescribe them to me. Do you guys give your LO Vitamin D drops??
