Ok so usually once every few months my department does Happy Hour. Last one was about 2 months ago when one of our co-workers was leaving. Next one is supposed to be in the next 2 weeks to celebrate a bunch of May Birthdays (mine included). I don?t know how to handle this situation??
They usually do rounds of shots; and people are ordering drinks freely. Then we split the bill when it comes out. I really don?t want to go out and drink cranberry juice and pay $60-$70 when everyone?s been drinking vodka/rum/tequila. And what about the shots? Do I ask the bartender to just bring me water or something and fake it?
Do I not go? It?s to celebrate 4 of our birthdays?won?t it seem odd if all of a sudden I can?t go or decline any dates they offer to reschedule? Or suck it up and pay the money although I?m not drinking? Maybe I can throw the idea out of starting our own tabs or something? This way I know I?m only paying for my cranberry juice? Will it seem cheap if I suggest that?
