Sweeping the Membranes...Do I want my OB to do this?

Okay I need some advice....I'm 37.5 weeks along with my first little one and my doctor said I am definitely going to deliver early- probably in the next 1-2 weeks.  She said at my next appointment that she could sweep the membranes (aka strip) with her finger which often ensure you don't go past your due date.

As of Monday, I'm 1cm dilated, 50% effaced, and at -2 station. Do I want her to do this? I read up about what sweeping/stripping the membranes online so I know what it is, but will it really help me & the baby or just hurt us in the process and won't do anything?
