When did you find out gender?

I know that I will find out the gender at my 20 week ultrasound but I also have some friends that say they went as early as 13 weeks!!!! (wow) to an outside ultrasound clinic and paid out of pocket to find out the gender.

 What are your plans or what have you heard is the earliest you can tell? I could personally wait but my husband is about to go nuts.
