What's the general guideline on dental x-rays while pregnant?

I made an appt for tomorrow for my daughter and I to have our teeth cleaned months ago.  I totally forgot about it until they called with the reminder tonight.  I wouldn't think it would be very dangerous, but then again, it's not like I have to go to the dentist right now.  I just figured since I was taking my daughter I'd kill two birds with one stone and get mine done too.  I've never had any kind of dental work done other than cleanings, never had so much as a cavity (knock on wood).  Would the dentist do a cleaning without doing an x-ray first if I requested it?
