Picking out an OB...and dreading it.

I live in a small town. Last time I went to an OB it was the first one recommended to me that was literally right down the road...

NEVER AGAIN! He is still right down the road, but this is how I and others describe him to people: "He's a hobbit with farmer hands and a bedside manner that could rival House!"

Ever since this pregnancy I've been really worried about having a decent, DECENT OB. Because I live in Mississippi there really aren't a ton to choose from that are close by. There is one woman I'd love to see, but I've heard she doesn't take my insurance (UGH!). I plan to call tomorrow and make sure, but if it's true and I can't get in to see her (and honestly? I'm so ready to have a female OB! Especially one that knows what it's like to actually GIVE BIRTH) then that leaves me with a choice:

Sacrifice my "need" for a female OB so that I can give birth closer to DH's work place (in case he isn't off work at the time), or try to find a female OB that is further out from DH's work.

What would you girls do?
