Are the companies TRYING to make things impossible to put together?

So, we put up our crib the other day, which was difficult in itself as there were  so many typos.  We also ended up with a few leftover screws, which I'm not sure if we messed up somewhere or they were extras.

 

I got home from doing my WIC shopping today, and our bassinet came (two of my aunts and my grandma went in on it together).  I've managed to get part of it up, but now it wants me to attach something to something and it's not fitting right.  Why can't they have plain and simple directions?!  

 

I was hoping to have it up and surprise my hubby tonight ,but I don't think I'll be able to figure it out by myself.
