Forceful letdown/oversupply?

My LO is a month old and breastfeeding has been quite a struggle so far. My left boob was so cracked and scabbed up I decided to pump on that side until it healed while he still ate off of the right side. On Tuesday I decided to put the bottle away and feed him off of both sides. Now whenever he eats on either side, milk is constantly running down his face and he cries and pulls off a lot. He is also really only eating off of one side at a time now when before he would eat off of my right side and take 2 oz from a bottle. I'm worried that he's not eating enough now because he is getting so frustrated and falls asleep. He seems to still have plenty of wet/dirty diapers but I'm still a concerned momma! Will the milk running down the chin ever stop and will he stop crying when he eats? Part of me really wants to give up but I know this is the best thing to do for my LO.
