pain and pressure in lower abdomin

April 2012 in 3rd Trimester

I am 37 weeks pregnant with my first child and, as of 4 days ago, 50% efaced. Over the past few days, I have begun to feel ALOT of pressure in my lower abdomin and some pain. Is this normal? Does it mean I am getting close to labor?
