When is it common to become dilated?

April 2012 in 3rd Trimester

Hello, I had my 39 wk 4 day appt yesterday and not dilated at all! I was so disappointed. I feel like my dr's office messed up my due date, based on the initial ultrasound. Did anyone become dilated very late in pregnancy? TIA!
