What? 95 percentile?

I had an ultrasound done yesterday at the doctor.  I am currently 28 weeks and 4 days.  The doctor said the baby was on the big side (weighing 3 pounds and 4 ounces so far) and that he was measuring in the 95th percentile. 

What does that mean?  He didn't explain the 95 percentile.  Okay, I'm guessing he is a big boy...what does this mean for the baby? the delivery?

The doctor seemed very happy with the measurements, but I just wish I knew more because I keep reading online and getting more confused.

Thoughts? Anyone experience this? Is my baby big for this stage in the pregnancy?
