If you had a planned c/s, I have a question

When I had my son, I had a c/s.  Not an emergency, but not planned either.  So when it comes time to have this LO, I will be a scheduled c/s, My question is about being hooked up to the fetal monitors.  How long were you hooked up to it before your surgery?  I do weekly NSTs and while I like listening to the heartbeat for a few seconds, the longer I'm on the monitor, the more stressed out I get.  Thanks ladies.
