Signs of Labor

This is another labor thread. I know there is a lot of them around, but there is so many questions i have. Where to begin....

Well, First of all, I have been having cramps similar to period cramps, and i just got a sharp pains in my hips that lasted a minute. Are those things a sign of labor? I am not sure. I know that dilation, and thinning of the cervix are. I know at my 34 week appointment I was dilated 2 cm, and thinned 70%. It could be any day now, but are sharp pains in my hips and cramps really a sign of labor?
