Breastfeeding

Supplementing

My milk has gradually started to decline over the last 2 months after a series of repeated clogged ducts (like at least 1 per week for for 3 months).  I'm taking fenugreek and lecithin and have tried pumping more frequently, but it is hit or miss.

For the longest time, LO refused formula so I burned through my freezer stash and have about 28 oz left.  Finally (after starting with just a tsp of formula in a 4 oz bottle and working our way up), he will now take straight formula.

There are occasional days when I pump enough, but most days I'm short.

Is it better for me to try to spread the breastmilk over a longer period of time and thus add some formula even on the days when I have enough so that I can freeze a little for later?

Or just give as much breastmilk as possible now knowing that I will likely have to give a larger percentage of formula each day later?
