Really Sick During Labor

Last weekend I was hit with a bad cold.  My doctor confirmed today that I have a bacterial infection in my lungs that could be turning into pnemonia.  While the doctor gave me a z-pack, I ak 38 weeks pregnant and feel labor might be close as I am experiencing some slight contractions.  My question is if anyone has had a crazy illness when they went into labor.  My concern is that I will not have the strength when the time comes to give birth or they won't let me be with my baby due to my illness.  Just curious if any mother out there experienced this before.
