NP says no breastfeeding?

My daughter, who will be 1 in about a week, has had diarrhea for a week.   I took her in to see the nurse practitioner today, who told me that I should not breastfeed for 3 days and give my daughter soymilk with probiotics.  She said that my daughter probably had a viral infection and the lactose in my milk is making it hard for her belly to get back to normal.  I plan to wean her from breastfeeding after she turned a year, but not so abruptly.  I'm not sure how I feel about this and wanted some input.  Thanks.
