The cord cometh before the fall

Dh's computer cord stretches across the family room, and yesterday my foot didn't lift up quite as high as I commanded it to.  Therefor, I fell.

Normally, this is no big deal.  But apparently we ladies have turned in to rag dolls.  I seriously couldn't do a thing while I was falling.  All my joints were completely limp, and trying to stop myself was useless.  We have wood floors, so I hit the ground on my knees, hard.  I think I was in more shock about my lack of control than I was about the pain in my knees.

Anyone else fall recently?  I'm walking on eggshells now.  We have a pretty steep staircase down to the garage/laundry.  I'm holding the railing with a deathgrip now.
