Popping in from 2nd Tri. with a question

My doctor told me not to form a birth plan.  According to her and her fellow drs. they never go through as planned and almost always create more problems.  She told me that if I must I can put 3 must haves on a sticky note and give it to her right before labor.  So i've been thinking.  The biggest thing I want is for my baby to stay with me after delivery if possible.  Do they have to take him to a seperate room after delivery?  I want to cuddle him and BF and enjoy our time together right after he leaves the womb.  Is this posing any sort of danger to him?  I guess i'm just kind of confused and lost on the whole subject.
