Mattress Question

March 2012 in 3rd Trimester

After seeing the thread about the crib mattress yesterday, I have questions. I have a waterproof mattress. Since it is waterproof, I don't see what use airing it out will be since no air can get through it. Also, my mattress pad is not waterproof since my mattress is. Does anyone have any feedback on this? I had assumed all crib mattresses were waterproof but it sounds like most of you have just a mini version of a normal mattress......
