Wrist pain, anyone?

I woke up this morning with a very painful left wrist. Anytime I bend it (which is obviously pretty often), I have shooting pain. To make it worse, I am left-handed.

Does anyone else have this pain? I googled it and I guess it's common in pregnant women. I read it's more common in the left wrist because women are advised to sleep on their left side, which cuts off circulation to the wrist. I didn't have this at all when I was pregnant with my daughter. Is there anything you can do to prevent it?
