Your advice on name

So my husband and I are in the consant discussion tof deciding on a boy's name and I need some advice from you guys.  One of the names I'm okay with and just need to find a middle name.  However, the second name we have been throwing out a lot of ideas and my husband is being very stubborn and a random name was suggested.  Here's the back story...  My husband was really close with his uncle who died from cancer on my H's birthday before I met him.  Everyone called him beaver or beav for short.

I really like the idea of naming our baby after a beloved family member, but the first name of Beav is just a little too odd for me.  So I did some checking and found the name Beaven, which isn't quite as bad to me.  What is your opinion, is that a little too odd for a boy's first name?
