take home outfit

So I found a short sleeve onesie I like and want to buy for the take home outfit, but I am a little overwhelmed about all the options out there.  What is best?  Does it need to be a kimono style side snap shirt and pants combo?  Can it just be a short sleeved button at the crotch style or will that hurt his belly button?  Should it be a long sleeved footed onesie because most likely everywhere will be freezing and air conditioned?  help!  What are/did you plan on bringing baby home in?  I know its a silly thing to be obsessing about, but I don't get to plan a nursery since we are moving right after baby comes so these are the things I obsess about instead ;-)
