To Plan or not to Plan?

I was wondering if I should be the one to plan my baby shower or not. I think I would feel rude and desperate if I planned it myself but then I would feel rude and desperate if I asked someone else to plan it for me. What should I do and how should I go about it? Anyone have any personal experiences??
