Cervical Funneling?

Has anyone here had any experience with Cervical Funneling?  I am being checked today at 2pm for it, due to some pretty bad  cramping and contractions.   My doctor did a pelvic exam this morning and said my cervix was not dialiate and seemd long and firm.  I am very nervous going into this.  Has anyone else dealt with this and did you have any symptoms before hand to indicate this was the problem?
