Anyone who has dealt with OP's and lawyers, advice please.

So, I filed for an OP against BD middle of last month and our court date is coming up to extend it (if I choose). I have decided not to extend, but today received a letter in the mail from a lawyer he apparently hired to represent him in the OP case. I was told if I didn't show for court, the OP would just be dropped. (I'm not showing because I feel the OP has went on long enough). My question is, assuming his lawyer shows for court, which he will because they have no knowledge of me not going, will he be charged for the time? I am assuming he has payed the retainer already, but was curious if me not going to court would do anything at all besides cost him money.
