RP Aug '12: Getting tubes tied without a c-section

Obviously no one has experienced this on this board   but I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of it or knew anyone that has had it done. My Dr. asked at my appt. yesterday if I wanted a tubal after the delivery. I thought she was asking if I wanted an elective c-section but she said they can do it without a c-section as well. About an hour after delivery I go to the surgery room and they make a small incision below (?) my belly button and tie the tubes. She said it takes all of 5-10 minutes.

I had no idea this was a possibility. Permanent BC has been on our minds a lot lately but we felt like there was no good solution (DH isn't crazy about getting a V). I need to research it more and we obviously need to make the decision if we are done for good or not, but I  just was curious what the information/opinions/reviews were out there for this.
