When to have baby shower?

I want my shower to be early enough to have plenty of time to make returns and purchase items that we didn't receive as gifts, not to mention just in case I go into labor early! My mom and sister decided that June 3rd would be perfect. I will be 29.5 weeks. Do you think that is a good plan? When are you having yours? Also are you doing it on a Sunday or Saturday. We chose Sunday because there are a lot of weddings in June and want to avoid any conflicts with those.
