What does this mean?

February 2012 in 3rd Trimester

I was in the emergency room 2 nites ago and had to stay over night because i couldn't stop throwing up bile.The doctor checked me and he said my cervix is opened a lil bit on the outside but closed on the inside a bit,what does that mean? I also had spotting and baby is head down.I stopped spotting a day ago.Anybody know if maybe labor is close since my cervix is slightly opened?
