Iron-deficiency anemia

I got my glucose & blood test results back today. I passed my 1hr glucose test (yay!), but the nurse said I am anemic.

My doctor wants me to start taking an iron supplement in addition to my prenatal vitamins. I'm not overly concerned about it or anything, just wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed as anemic during their pregnancy? I'm wondering if it's pretty common? I didn't have it with my first baby.
