when to ask people to be Godparents?

February 2012 in 2nd Trimester

What is the approrpriate timeframe, if any, to ask people to be your child's Godparents?? I'm due July 22nd so I will probably schedule the Baptism for early September. Should I ask now? or in a couple months? Or after baby is born?
