Parenting & Birthing Classes--yay or nay?

I'm thinking yes to the birthing class and no to the parenting, but DH disagrees.  What are your experiences?

I grew up with lots of younger cousins, and I worked in the infant room at a daycare for almost 3 years, so I feel fairly confident around babies.  DH, on the other hand, is worried that he'll pick the baby up by the ankle by accident or something.  The class is 3 weeknights and $90.

The birthing class might be useful simply so we both know what to expect and how to deal, but I figure that no birth really goes according to a plan.  The class is also 3 weeknights and $100.
