due date pasted and baby hasn't dropped

After my doctor appointment today it sounds like this baby is very happy where it is. My doctor told me the baby is still high and i have not dilated. He said at this point that the baby should of dropped. I'm being induced on Friday and they are bringing me in Thursday night to give me something to help the cervix rippen. I just pray this all works because I really don't want a c-section. Has anybody else been high before and then gone into labor still sooner then later??
