To have a reveal party or not?

I am completely torn as to have a reveal party or not.  My sister-in-law did this horribly dramatic drawn out reveal party and we were all miserable and irritated by the end (she waited for us to all eat everything on our plate, it was almost 2 hours of dinner, before the cake reveal at dessert), not to mention she was cranky because she really wanted a girl and announced to us that they were having a boy.  I don't want that kind of party.  If we even do a reveal dinner - we will reveal as soon as everyone gets there - first thing.  No waiting until dessert, when every slow eating person scrapes their plate.  So far, I am leaning towards the box filled with pink or blue balloons, but I still can't decide.  With our first, we just called everybody.  I think we are having everyone over for dinner that night no matter if we call or do a big reveal. So my question is: To do a big reveal or not?  What are everyone's thoughts?
