Newborn /Baby Pictures

Okay so when I had my 1st chil- I was young and never had the $ to do pregnancy/newborn pics.  i regretted it.  when we had #2 and #3 we went crazy and got them donw.  They are nice- a  keepsake I get it.. however having # 4 - Im older/wiser and more frugal lol, I don't want to spend $1000 on Newborn pictures.  Does anyone else feel this way?

everyone I like their style is charging $250 session fee (to take pictures) and a min. $400-$450 photo committment.  

Honestly I can think of a million other things I can spend $650 - $1000 on.  I want to have the memory- but what are others doing?  are they forking out the $500+ for these pictures?  I don't have a friend of family member who is a photographer either- I already thought of this.
