Travel System or buy stoller and car seat seperate?

I am doing some research in the baby bargins book and they say mostly with the travel systems the strollers are junk and heavy, but you can get some good deals. What have you found or any suggestions? I honestly dont think I need the feature of sitting the carseat on the stroller. So many decisions!
