Gestational Diabetes

So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes about 2 weeks ago. My dr referred me to an Endocrinologist who had me monitor my blood sugar 4 x's a day and keep a food log for the past week. Now, after reviewing everything, she wants to put me on insulin at night... my blood sugar has been high at times, but not often and not extremely high... I am just wondering if there are other moms who have this diagnosis that can tell me what their docs said was the recommended blood sugar levels, and when/if you had to go on insulin... Also, I see my ob on Monday and will be asking for a referral for a second opinion... just wondering if I can get an idea from you ladies....
