Another period question

My first period pp came about 5 1/2 weeks after my section.  When should I expect the next one? Does your cycle go back to a somewhat regular schedule or could it take longer? I am on day 26 now. After being in the pill and knowing exactly when to expect it for so long, I hate the anticipation of waiting on it.  I am ready to start my birth control pills.
