3rd Trimester

XP - NST Question

February 2012 in 3rd Trimester

I will be 40 weeks on Friday and still no dialation/effacement at today's appointment. So doc has ordered a NST for Friday. She also wants to get a fluid level and estimated weight...does that mean a NST and an ultrasound?

I read that the NST is basically laying there while they monitor for up to an hour. DH really wants to be at every ultrasound so I'm not sure if he should come to the NST?

Any insights?
