Related to below: do I need a pediatrician?

Or can I go with a family practice doctor?  I ask because the only pediatricians in my area are terrible and are part of a clinic that generally does not care about its patients.  Instead, I'd rather go with a family practice doctor at the hospital I'm delivering at.  Anyone have any experience with this?  Will a family practice doctor generally take on an infant or do I really need a pediatrician?
