Big U/S not as long as you'd imagined?

I just had my big U/S yesterday and it lasted less than ten minutes.  I had imagined it lasting anywhere from 30-45 minutes and I just thought in general it would have been more thorough.  I asked my midwife at my appointment shortly after and she said they only do scans for about 5 minutes or so.  She showed me the all of the critical measurements that were taken and explained that it's not a "play" time but for diagnostic reasons only.  She said I could have a "fun" U/S at an imaging ceneter if I wanted to pay for it.

Anyone else experience this?
