Hormones causing chest/back breakouts...zit cream OK?

When I look it up, the messages seem to be mixed....some say OK, some say consult your doctor, some say no benzoyl peroxide products...what the hell? Anyone know anything about the safety of topical acne products? I'm almost in my third trimester- I don't know if that makes any difference or not. I've had completely clear skin all my life so this is really bothering me.
